- Jul 30StudioRetrying a batch no longer re-pays compute for failures that cannot succeedThe retry button sent `retry_mode: all`, which re-runs permanent failures alongside transient ones. A document that failed because its data is invalid, a field is missing or the format is unsupported will fail again on every retry, and each attempt is billed at full extraction cost. The API's own default is `transient_only` for that reason, and the Studio button was overriding it. Retry now opens on a mode selector that defaults to transient failures only, meaning network, timeout and rate-limit errors. Retrying everything is still available as an explicit choice, with the compute cost stated in the dialog, and the selector returns to the safe default each time it opens so a one-off override does not quietly persist.
- Jul 30StudioA namespace that is still provisioning no longer greets you with red error toastsA newly created namespace returns 404 from its own list endpoints for a few seconds while it finishes provisioning. Studio's global error handler rendered each of those as a red Not Found toast, so the first minutes of a new account produced a burst of errors describing a state that was normal and about to resolve on its own. It reached pages that have nothing to do with provisioning, including billing, where one customer saw seven of them stacked up. A 404 from a list endpoint carries no information a person can act on, because the list already has an empty state that says the same thing calmly. Those responses no longer raise a toast. The query still receives the rejection and refetches once provisioning completes, and server errors and non-list 404s toast exactly as before.
- Jul 30APIA shard refusing writes to protect durability is now retried instead of failing the batchWhen the vector store cannot guarantee a write will survive, it refuses that write and says so, which is the safe behavior and is documented as a retryable condition. The ingestion path did not treat it as one. Three separate layers each matched a different set of transient error patterns and none of them recognized this refusal, so batches that hit it were marked permanently failed and never retried. One customer lost 51 images to it in a single day, with the retry count still at zero on 43 of them, and had no signal that resubmitting would have worked. The refusal is now classified as transient wherever a batch can retry, matching how the namespace clone path had always handled it.
- Jul 30DocsTwo API reference playgrounds were calling paths that do not existThe aggregate-documents and create-webhook pages are generated from a pointer to the OpenAPI spec, and both pointers had drifted from the path the API serves. Aggregate carried an extra path segment that was never part of the route, and create-webhook had a trailing slash. Each page rendered normally, so the only way to find out was to run the playground and get a 404 back. Aggregate was also undocumented as a side effect, since no other page described the real path while coverage counted this one as present. Both pointers now match the spec, and a check runs over the whole reference so a pointer cannot drift again without failing. Thirteen more pointers left behind by page renames were repaired in the same pass.

Do I have to move my data?
No. Mixpeek reads from your existing S3, GCS, R2, Azure, or S3-compatible bucket. Your storage stays the system of record, and nothing leaves your cloud.
How fast is retrieval?
Hybrid queries (dense, sparse, and BM25) return in well under 100ms p95, even with vectors persisted on object storage rather than held in RAM.
Do I need embeddings to start?
No. Bring your own vectors with MVS, or point Managed at raw files and it generates embeddings and features for you.
What can Managed extract?
Faces, scenes, transcripts, OCR, labels, and embeddings from video, images, audio, PDFs, and documents, all indexed at the object level.
Can I self-host?
